Project Details

As part of the Route 12 Line speed Enhancement Project to increase the running speeds and to improve train journey times through the area the up platform structure at Stoke-on-Trent Station required modifying to accommodate the increased through platform speed and with the removal of one of the up lines the platform extended to take into account the revised track alignment.

During the blockade all the lines were blocked for the first three days, for the four days following, the up main line was closed with a reduced OLE isolation and the down main line open to bi-directional traffic. For the final two days of the blockade, all lines were once again blocked and isolation re-extended to facilitate the commissioning.
